The Good Old Days

We all do it. Online shopping, I mean. How can we not?

The whole world at our fingertips, in the comfort of our own homes, with just keystrokes, we can shop the world.  We can search, select and order in minutes. In most cases delivery is phenomenal, usually just days.

For years, small local "ma and pa" businesses have had to compete with box stores; now they have to compete with Amazon, eBay and God knows how many other online businesses.  For those of us who live in small communities, these are our friends and neighbours. They offer real and personalized service.  They're real folks, just like us, offering their skills, services and support. Try getting those online.

In this week's BC Chronicles we look back to "The Good Old Days", before box stores and digital commerce.  There was a time that it was a point of pride to patronize your local merchants and services.
